Earlier this week, the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture announced that Santa and his reindeer team have been cleared for their work on Christmas.
At an event at HersheyPark this week, Governor Josh Shapiro was joined by Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding and state veterinarian Dr. Alex Hamburg to announce that Santa’s reindeer were given clean bills of health by Dr. Hamburg’s counterpart in Alaska, Dr. Robert Gerlach. The certification gives them clearance to fly over Pennsylvania to help Santa deliver toys across the state.
The clearance is needed to make sure the reindeer do not bring contagious diseases across state lines.
