Today is the first of two days that students who attended Eisenhower Elementary School will use asynchronous learning as the school building remains closed due to a fire on school property that destroyed two modular classrooms.
Students will learn from home over the next two days as the Eisenhower Elementary teachers set up inside temporary classrooms at Horace Mann Elementary and the Indiana Junior High schools. On Wednesday, Eisenhower fourth graders will head to Horace Mann, while 5th graders will go to the Junior High. The fire early Friday morning destroyed two modular classrooms being used for small-group instruction and a computer lab, and the fire resulted in smoke and water damage to the main building. The damage was enough to force the district to close the school building for the rest of the school year.
Today’s lessons will be posted to the district’s online platforms by 9:30 this morning. Additional details on the transition to the other buildings, including busing information and parent pick up/drop off, will be announced either today or tomorrow.
