The busy day for area first responders continued Monday afternoon as Indiana Fire Association members were summoned to two incidents.
The first was a reported structure fire at Chipotle along Oakland Avenue around 1:02 PM. Assistant Fire Chief Ron Moreau said the initial call was for a fire in the HVAC system, but they quickly learned it was an overheated motor and no fire was visible.
Then, they were summoned to South 10th Street in Indiana Borough around 2:14 for a reported gas leak. Moreau said the incident happened near IUP’s Stright and Johnson Hall where gas line construction was taking place, and crews accidentally hit a pipe, causing gas to expel from it. Both buildings were evacuated and everyone got out safely.
