If you get an unexpected message about an Emergency Alert System and Wireless Emergency Alerts on your cell phone tomorrow, it’s part of a planned nation-wide test of those systems.
The cell phone test will happen around 2:18 PM tomorrow, with a nationwide EAS test to happen shortly afterwards. The cell phone text message will have a header that reads “Presidential Test”, and then the text will read “This is a test of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No Action is needed.”
The test is designed to let officials know if there needs to be improvements made to the system.
