After a week off for Finals, the IUP basketball teams return to the court tonight for the first night of back-to-back home doubleheader action. Tonight, it’s IUP against Mansfield, and tomorrow Bloomsburg visits the KCAC.
Both IUP teams are battling the injury bug. The 4-2 women’s team was down to only seven players when they last played against Lock Haven on December 17th. Coach Craig Carey says the short bench takes a toll on the team physically and mentally.
Carey expects to get Maria Cerro back from injury tonight.
Coach Joe Lombardi’s 5-3 men have won four in a row and are coming together, despite the ongoing injury problems that have plagued center Ethan Porterfield, who will be a game-time decision tonight. Lombardi says the team is developing and he’s working to put them into position for success.
The action tips off at 5:30 tonight at the KCAC. Jack Benedict has the call beginning with the women’s pregame at 5:15 on 92.5 FM U92.
