It is a very busy court schedule today at the Indiana County Courthouse, with dozens of cases coming before the court. Many of them are driving under the influence cases involving defendants who will both plead and be sentenced for DUI. But there are also several Plea Court appearances and sentencing for other defendants.
Among those cases is Plea Court for 35-year-old Jamie Lynn Patterson of Homer City, who will enter pleas to charges of strangulation, aggravated assault, and simple assault. It’s a domestic violence case for which this week Judge William Martin put on hold a no-contact provision against Patterson so she and the alleged victim can attend a medical/sonogram appointment for their unborn child.
55-year-old Theresa Simms of Blairsville will enter pleas for charges of aggravated assault, aggravated assault by vehicle, recklessly endangering, reckless driving, simple assault, careless driving causing serious injury, and improper backing up. The case is from last April. Blairsville Police filed the charges, saying Simms intentionally ran over her daughter at a store on West Market Street. The two had been arguing inside a car when the daughter angrily got out and her mother accelerated in reverse, hitting the 33-year-old victim with the open door of the car.
23-year-old Sean Painter of Shelocta will appear in Plea Court to answer felony charges of theft, conspiracy to theft, and two counts of receiving stolen property, along with misdemeanor prowling at night and escape and summary public drunkenness. The incident happened June 24th of this year.
26-year-old Frank Moose of Clymer has two Plea Court appearances and two probation revocation hearings scheduled. In one case, he will plead to three counts of accidents involving damage to an attended vehicle and eight summary traffic violations. In the other, he will plead to felony possession of (materials) with intent to manufacture an illegal substance, two misdemeanor possession charges, escape, flight to avoid apprehension, and summary traffic violations.
34-year-old Joshua Gibson of Indiana will plead to terroristic threats and harassment.
22-year-old Brandon Moss of Indiana will plead to burglary, criminal trespass, and theft.
