Two school districts are reporting new Covid-19 cases this morning.
Indiana Area School District said in a letter that on Thursday, April 8th, they were notified that a Senior High Student had tested positive for Covid-19, and was in school during his or her infectious period. As a result, 13 additional staff and students are quarantining. While the case does count towards the district’s rolling 14-day case count, there are no active cases in the secondary levels. This is due to the decision to have Fridays be remote learning days and closing the school for deep cleaning and sanitization over the weekend. As a result, the school will remain open. Right now, there is only one active case reported in the district, and that is at Horace Mann Elementary.
Meanwhile, the United School District reported a positive case of Covid-19 in a sixth grader at the district’s elementary school. Those who were considered close contacts with that student will be contacted by the PA Department of Health or local health department who will provide further information and instructions.
Indiana and United are the only districts who are reporting new cases of Covid-19 this morning.
