UPDATE: State Police have announced the names of the two other drivers involved in yesterday’s fatal crash. The man allegedly driving the pickup truck involved was 22-year-old Darren D. Carr of Punxsutawney, while behind the wheel of the first vehicle that was crashed into first was 48-year-old Lori Gaston of Home, PA.
Charges have not been filed yet, as Trooper Greenfield has said that the investigation, including accident reconstruction, could take several months.
Indiana County Coroner Jerry Overman Jr. has released the name of the victim of yesterday’s fatal crash involving a school bus in Rayne Township.
Overman says 34-year-old Sarah Katherine Slovinsky of Beyer died in the crash. The cause and manner of death are pending the results of the investigation.
The accident happened at about 3:41 PM on Route 85 and Dogwood Circle. State Police say the driver of a westbound pickup truck failed to see a stopped vehicle waiting to turn left onto Dogwood Circle. The truck hit the rear of the stopped vehicle, then entered the eastbound lane and collided with the school bus, which reportedly had no students on it at the time.
Slovinsky had to be extricated from the bus by firefighters and was taken from the scene by ambulance, but later died. No one else was injured. Police have not identified either of the other drivers, but say the driver of the pickup truck was a man from Punxsutawney.
