First Commonwealth Bank Retail Executive Vice President Joe Culos was recently presented with an award honoring his support of employees called into active duty service in our nation’s military.
The Patriotic Employer award was presented to Culos from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve group. He was nominated by Senior Airman Joshua Nies, a former First Commonwealth community office manager in Lawrence County. He was put onto active orders in February of 2020, but Culos kept Nies’ benefits and compensation package intact and also promised that his position would be held for him when he returned from active duty.

Nies said in a statement that he was thankful for First Commonwealth and for Culos going above and beyond to support him in his military career. Culos added that it was truly a team effort and said the award was really for the entire bank who supported Nies as he served his country.
