HOCKEY
Trailing by two goals midway through the third period, Indiana rallied behind two goals by Ash Lockard to force overtime, then won its game against Meadville, 6-5, on an overtime goal by Landin Wilson.
Lockard had a hat trick and Phil Bell scored twice, on a short-handed goal and a power play. Indiana was 3-for-6 with the man advantage but also gave up a short-handed goal. Wilson’s game-winning goal came 58 seconds into the overtime.
It was an offense-oriented game. Indiana goaltender Jayden Learn faced 40 shots on goal while Indiana peppered Meadville’s AJ Fuller with 47 shots. Special teams were also big…Indiana was penalized seven times, Meadville eight.
With the win, Indiana passes Quaker Valley for first place in the Varsity A Gold Division, with 20 points to Quaker Valley’s 19. Meadville earns a point and is in third place with 17 points. Indiana is back on the ice December 21st at fourth-place Shaler.
BASKETBALL
It was a doubleheader night at Indiana last night with both the girls and boys in action. Jake Slebodnick was there.
BOYS
A big second quarter lifted Homer-Center over Apollo-Ridge. The Wildcats outscored the Vikings 23-6 in the quarter on their way to a 56-39 non-conference win. Max Voyda scored a team-high 19 points for Homer-Center and Owen Saiani had 12. Karter Schrock scored 17 for Apollo-Ridge.
GIRLS
Alaina Fabin scored 21 points and Aggie Voyda added 10 as Homer-Center topped Conemaugh Valley, 59-26.
