Senate Republican Leader Joe Pittman said in a statement that he stands with Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro concerning antisemitism.
While Governor Shapiro was at a rally against antisemitism on Sunday in Philadelphia, pro-Palestine protestors were holding their own march through Harrisburg to call for a cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas war, and that included a stop outside the Governor’s residence.
Those actions lead to Pittman issuing a statement, saying that the march in Harrisburg “served as a reminder of the fear and hatred being spread throughout the world.” He called the targeting of the Governor’s residence and of Shapiro “extremely troubling” and said that he stood with the Governor, the Jewish community of Pennsylvania and the people of Israel. He ended his statement by saying, “Antisemitism has no place in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in our nation or anywhere in the world.”
