There will be some changes to the Penns Manor School Board starting tonight as a new board member will be selected.
According to a draft of tonight’s agenda, the board will look to approve Lisa Smiley as the new school board director who will represent Region 1-Clymer.
The position became vacant with the resignation of Robert Packer at its school board meeting in March. His resignation came as he was moving out of the Clymer area to Cherryhill Township, and while that is still within the district, it is not the area that he was elected to represent. Packer plans to run for school board again, but he will run for the Cherryhill Township seat. Smiley will serve the remainder of Packer’s term, which goes to December 6th of this year.
Also on the agenda for tonight is the appointment of Jill Eckenrode as the new board Vice President. She will fill the position for John Hardesty, who was named board president last month. The board will also look to accept Eckenrode’s resignation as the school board treasurer, and appoint a new treasurer.
Also on the agenda are agreements for Physical and Occupational Therapy contracts, a contract for driver’s ed instruction, and an agreement with REA Energy to provide new underground service to the district.
Tonight’s meeting starts at 7:00 PM.
