Steelers outside linebackers TJ Watt and Alex Highsmith have both reportedly been placed in the NFL’s concussion protocol after both were injured Thursday night in the loss to New England.
Watt was struck in the head by the knee of Patriots running back Ezekiel Elliott on the first play of the game. He left the game briefly but returned and played the rest of the way, but began wearing a dark visor later in the first quarter. He reported symptoms on Friday, according to team spokesman Burt Lauten.
Highsmith left the game in the first quarter with a reported neck injury. The NFL Network reports that he is in concussion protocol.
The Steelers pay the Colts in Indianapolis on Saturday.
