An online trucking website has issued a report on traffic fatalities across the nation for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, listing them by roadway, county, and state for 2001 to 2021. In that time period, Indiana County had seven fatalities.
TruckInfo.net based its study on data collected by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the U.S. Census Bureau. The organization serves truckers across the nation.
No Indiana County roadway had more than two traffic deaths over the twenty years measured in the study. Route 286 had two, and Routes 119, 22, 553, and 22 (William Penn Highway), as well as Washington Road, were on the list.
The data was for December 24th through January 1st of each year.
