SOFTBALL – GAME ONE
SHIPPENSBURG – 2, IUP – 1
Sarah Russell went 2-for-3 offensively, while Ashley Renzi drove in the Crimson Hawks’ only run in the game in the sixth as they fell, 2-1, in game one of Tuesday’s doubleheader.
Both teams were scoreless heading into the bottom of the fourth, but the Raiders would break the tie off an RBI double, and would add the deciding run in the fifth inning off of an RBI single. Renzi would drive in Amanda Fischer in the top of the sixth on a single, but that would be all IUP would put up.
SOFTBALL – GAME TWO
IUP – 3, SHIPPENSBURG – 0
Bella Bucy pitched a complete game shutout as the Crimson Hawks rebounded in Tuesday’s matinee. Bucy earned her second win of the season after she struck out four batters while only allowing two walks and five hits to the Raiders.
IUP came out strong on offense in the first inning after a throwing error plated a run. Both teams would hold each other scoreless until the seventh inning, where Ashley Renzi would drive in Kaitlyn Beers and Faith Jones on a single to give the Crimson Hawks two insurance runs.
IUP is 10-8 on the season, 9-7 in the PSAC, and the Crimson Hawks return to action on Friday to kick-off a four-game series with Pitt-Johnstown.
