The Indiana School Board met last night and got good news on a program that allows students to take college-level classes.
During his report, Superintendent Michael Vukovich announced that he recently received a $1000 scholarship, which he has decided to donate to the district to be put towards students who are taking college level classes during their high school years. The money will go to cover the cost of the college credits. Vukovich was reminded of how a similar program in the Johnstown School District helped a student save a lot of money later on, as they already had college credits accrued.
During public comment, a parent spoke up about the possibility of poor air quality at the Ben Franklin Elementary School, saying that her daughter had come home with some respiratory problems after a few days at school. Vukovich said that the board could not take action right away, but he did say that the Ben Franklin teachers and principal will sit down and work on this issue at the school level.
Also at last night’s meeting, the board approved hiring Beard Legal Group to act as the district’s solicitors.
