BOYS BASKETBALL
In a Heritage Conference West boys matchup last night, the United boys challenged River Valley. Jake Slebodnick has the story.
Northern Cambria edged Homer-Center, 47-45. Ty Dumm led the way for the Colts with 21 points. For the Wildcats, Owen Siani scored 13 and Max Voyda had 12.
Conemaugh Valley outscored Purchase Line, 85-62. Jeremy Dietz had 23 for the Blue Jays. Jakob Mountain scored 23 to lead the Red Dragons.
Conemaugh Township beat Penns Manor 61-37. Jon Updyke led the Indians with 23 and Colin Dinvar had 15. Carter Smith scored 9 for the Comets.
Braydn Rodgers poured in 26 points to lead West Shamokin over Cambria Heights, 46-41. Reese Garrison led the Highlanders with 13.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Homer-Center rolled past Northern Cambria, 63-26. Alaina Fabin scored 26 points for the Wildcats and Ashlyn Kerr had 15.
Marion Center played out-of-conference and beat Ligonier Valley, 61-27. Macie Miller scored 11 points and had 8 steals. Averi Ruddock also had 11 for the Stingers.
WRESTLING
Indiana started its season with a 42-33 win over Butler. Winners for the Indians included Nico Fanella, Carter Putt, Graham McFarlane, Will Turner, Dominic Fanella, Jackson Higgins, Carson Beatty, and Sean Parks.
Indiana’s first home match is today against rival Armstrong.

The West Shamokin girls visit United on 92.5 FM U92 at 7:15.
There’s a big hockey matchup tonight on Renda Digital TV when Indiana hosts Quaker Valley. Indiana is 7-3 and brings a four-game winning streak into its game with 10-0 Quaker Valley. In the Varsity A Gold Division, Quaker Valley is 9-0 and in first place. Indiana is 7-1 and in second. The game faces off at 7:30.
