At last night’s meeting, the Center Township supervisors approved making a donation to assist the Homer City Area Athletic Booster Club.
The supervisors approved a $10,000 donation that will go to help them purchase a large tractor, according to Township Supervisors Chairman David “Butch” Smyers.
In other business, Smyers commented on the recent string of brush fires in the area. He is advising people to be extra careful if they feel they have to burn.
The supervisors also accepted stone bids from Davis Trucking for most of the stone needed for the township at $108,475, aand Midlands Oil for the oil contract at $123,000. The supervisors plan to re-bid the hot mix contract as only one bid came in. It will be re-bid with the next round of bids along with diesel fuel and catch basins.
In other news from Center Township, a portion of Sexton Road is closed today at the intersection of Sexton and Old Route 56. This is for a road project that will install two catch basins and a cross pipe along Sexton Road.
