An Indiana County Coaching Icon from the 1970’s has died.
Julius Misurda, who coached the Penns Manor Comets from 1972 through 1979, and who many described as a true gentleman, died Tuesday at the age of 88. Misurda was an assistant under another Comets Legend Pat Corrigan before taking over the program himself in 1972 leading Penns Manor to the Appalachian Conference Championship in his rookie season with a 7-0-2 record and was named Coach of the Year.
Current Penns Manor Coach Bill Packer told Renda Media that, “his passion for the game inspired so many coaches and players alike. I consider him a great mentor whose legacy continues to shape the spirit of Penns Manor football. Not only was Coach Misurda a great coach, but also a great man who will never be forgotten by the Penns Manor family.”
We will post more reactions and a link to the obituary once they come in.
