Indiana County fire departments were busy on Tuesday with multiple calls throughout the day, including a fire that destroyed a vacant building on McIntyre Road.
The fire was first reported by Indiana County 911 at 2:24 AM, with Iselin, Coal Run, Aultman and Coal Run fire departments called out for a fire at the former Coconut Grove bar. The building, which had been abandoned for at least a decade, was also a former school.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time. State Police Fire Marshals were dispatched to investigate the cause.
Fire crews have also been called out for brush fires, with two of them also happening in Young Township. The first of those was on Klimkos Road at 1:49 PM. Coal Run firefighters were called out for that fire. The second one in Young Township was on Shrokman Road, and was reported at 2:22 PM. Aultman, Elderton and Creekside firefighters were dispatched at that time.
One other brush fire was reported on Tuesday. That was at 2:03 PM on Elders Ridge Road in Conemaugh Township. Saltsburg, Tunnelton, and Iselin fire departments were dispatched along with two fire departments from Westmoreland County.
