Daniel Greenstein’s first day on the job as the new chancellor of the State System of Higher Education is on Tuesday, and it sounds like he’s eager to get going.
Greenstein has been posting a lot on Twitter in the last 24 hours, touching on a number of topics he wants to tackle as chancellor. He tweets that he spent time in East Africa this summer and heard from people there that college was the best chance at a better life. He says that if the United States, the richest country in the world, “can’t realize that universal aspiration for our families, what hope is there?” He concludes, “We must, we can, we will.”
Greenstein also tweeted about the cost of education, emphasizing outcomes over input, and “disaggregating” data to come to a better understanding of the college experience for different student groups.
The incoming chancellor also says he’s excited to visit the State System universities and meet faculty, staff, students, and community members. Greenstein is scheduled to visit IUP in October when the State System Board of Governors brings its fall meeting to Indiana.
