BASKETBALL BOYS
The high school basketball season begins tonight with a number of local teams involved in tournament play, including at Indiana, where the annual boys tipoff tournament features Geibel against Punxsutawney in the first game followed by host Indiana taking on Marion Center.
In other boys action tonight, the United tournament has Purchase Line playing Bishop McCort, and United will play Ligonier Valley.
Homer-Center ‘s boys will play Nazareth Prep at Leechburg.
The River Valley Tipoff Tournament has host River Valley against Windber.
West Shamokin travels all the way to Centre Country for the St. Joseph’s Tournament, where the Wolves will play Avonworth.
Other Heritage Conference boys teams in action tonight include Conemaugh Valley hosting Harmony; and Cambria Heights against Penn Cambria and Conemaugh Township playing Central Cambria at Central Cambria;

Indiana’s girls and their new coach Michael Franciscus play Forest Hills in the Forest Hills tournament.
Homer-Center will host Williamsburg Community in the Homer-Center tournament.
Heritage Conference rivals Cambria Heights and River Valley square off in the River Valley tournament.
United’s girls open their season against Bishop McCort at Windber
And at Bishop Carroll, Marion Center plays Central (Martinsburg), then West Shamokin plays Bishop Carroll.
Portage’s girls host Penn Cambria.
Conemaugh Township plays at Chestnut Ridge.
