A California-based company that makes chalkboards, whiteboards and display cases is expanding into Indiana County with the establishment of a manufacturing plant in Dixonville.
Platinum Visual Solutions has been in business for over 60 years and are the leading manufacturers of display products for classrooms. According to a news release, the new plant will enhance the company’s ability to produce and distribute its products to customers in the Mid-West and Eastern U.S. This will mark a homecoming for company owner Gary P. Stell, Jr. and CEO Mark A. Lawer, who are from Altoona and Indiana respectively. Lawer said in a statement from the company that “the local community already knows the business and has the knowledge and talent we need to be successful, and we’re looking forward to working with the many skilled craftspeople in the area and investing in what will be an ideal location for our customers.”
The company will utilize the former Greensteel plant on Laing Avenue. Production is slated to begin in 2024.
