IUP and Seton Hill each collected a win in Friday’s doubleheader at Ruth Podbielski Field, but IUP had plenty of standout performances on the day.
Game One: IUP – 6, Seton Hill – 5
In game one, Hope Jones collected the win for the Crimson Hawks after striking out a career-high 14 batters in the game. Meanwhile, Kaitlyn Beers tallied three RBIs off two hits with a two-run home run to her credit in the third inning. Also contributing on offense were Haleigh Zimmerman, who went 2-2 at the plate with a stolen base, and Renee Wall, who drove in two after doubling in the second inning.
Game Two: Seton Hill – 15, IUP – 1
The Griffins would rally back in game two by posting a seven-run third inning. They were led by shortstop Christiana Skrabak who went 4-4 at the plate with four RBIs.
For IUP, Jacey Henderson plated the Crimson Hawks’ only run in the second after a single to right drove in Sara Hull. Renee Wall found her way back in the hitting column with a pair of hits in the game.
IUP is now 9-5 on the season and both teams will make the trip to Greensburg tomorrow afternoon to finish the four-game series.
