After Pittsburgh garnered a 2-1 lead in the fourth, the Detroit Tigers went on to out-hit the Pirates in a 5-2 win.
Tyler Anderson struck out a pair in his final spring start, while Trevor Cahill gave up three runs in relief. Other notable performances on the hill were Duane Underwood Jr. – who threw two shutout innings and struck out three – and Sam Howard who brought his ERA down to 2.84 in 0.1 innings pitched.
Colin Moran provided the only two runs for the Pirates after hitting a two-run home run to left center in the fourth.
With four games remaining in Grapefruit League play, the Pirates return to LECOM Park tomorrow to face the Boston Red Sox at 1 p.m.
