Indiana County’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate went up in the month of October.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, the unemployment rate went up a half of a percentage point to 4.7 percent. The statewide unemployment held steady at 3.4 percent, which is the record for the all-time lowest statewide unemployment rate. The national rate went up a tenth of a percentage point to 3.9 percent.
Indiana’s unemployment rate is the highest in the region. Westmoreland County’s rate is the lowest in the region at 4.0 percent, Armstrong and Clearfield Counties are at 4.3 percent, Cambria is at 4.4 percent, and Jefferson is the at 4.5 percent.
The highest rate across the state is Forest County at 6.1 percent, while Adams county’s rate is the lowest at 2.7 percent.
Total non-farm jobs in Indiana County went up by 200 jobs to 29,000 in October. Jobs in the nine published super sectors were essentially unchanged over the month.
