During a five-day holiday period, Pennsylvania State Police across the Commonwealth investigated 979 vehicle crashes, resulting in four deaths. Alcohol was a factor in 73 of those crashes.
More than 10,000 speeding citations were issued. Troopers will continue to patrol for traffic safety throughout the holiday season, especially during Christmas and New Year’s.
Fleeing from a police officer during a traffic stop can result in a third-degree felony charge, which carries a possible seven-year jail sentence and a fine of up to $15,000.
