IUP has announced that preparation is underway to tear down five buildings on campus.
The buildings that will be razed as part of this effort include the University Towers, The Reschini House, the R&P Office Building, Pratt Hall and Eicher Hall. Offices that were located in each of those buildings have already moved to new locations. The demolition of the five buildings is part of the IUP Long-Range Facilities Master Plan. They were part of the original plan in 2010 or added in the three updates in 2011, 2014 and 2017. The projects will fall under the auspices of the Department of General Services.
To complete the work, the parking lots for university towers and Eicher Hall are closed and will remain that way until the end of the project, which is December of 2024. Construction equipment will be moving in and out of these areas during the projects and construction vehicles will be active around these demolition projects.
