At Tuesday night’s Blairsville-Saltsburg School Board meeting, the mayor of Saltsburg joined others who voiced their opposition to the proposed reconfiguration of the district that would close the Saltsburg Middle-High School, bus students to the Blairsville side of the district, and convert the Saltsburg Middle-High School to a district-wide STEM lab.
During the public comment portion of the meeting, Mayor Karen Cumberledge said that she was against the issue, and said she was not sure why Saltsburg is bearing the cost for this proposed reconfiguration.
Her feed to the meeting was interrupted but she was allowed to finish her public comment after many other Saltsburg residents made their concerns known. She had one message to the Saltburg parents.
In other business, the board approved the acquisition of 141 T-Mobile Hotspots through the T-Mobile 10 Million Project. Superintendent Philip Martel talked about how the hot spot devices will be distributed.
The hot spot devices are provided at no cost to the district, but the district will pay a $12 per year fee for every device to supply them with extra bandwidth.
