Newly-acquired pitcher Trevor Cahill secured the win on the mound as the Pirates won their second straight game by beating the Baltimore Orioles, 6-5, in 8 innings.
Cahill took over for Geoff Hartlieb in the fifth and pitched two perfect innings while striking out one in his debut with the Pirates. Duane Underwood Jr., another new arm that Pittsburgh got from the Chicago Cubs, followed Cahill in the seventh.
Offensively, the Pirates gained the upper-hand on Baltimore after Erik Gonzalez hit a go-ahead, two-run double in the sixth.
Gonzalez finished the game with two hits and a pair of runs batted in, while Kevin Newman went 3-4 with a double and two singles.
The Pirates continue their final week of Spring Training tomorrow afternoon with a matchup against the Minnesota Twins. First pitch is 1:05 p.m.
