Several organizations across Indiana County will come together to raise awareness to the problems with drug overdosing.
International Overdose Awareness Day events are set for August 31st at IRMC Park on North Seventh Street. Several groups from across the county will honor the victims of drug abuse. This marks the fourth year that the Blairsville Support Group Against Drugs has held the event and the second year that IUP’s MARTI institute and the office of Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs have taken part. Several recovery groups plan on taking part in the event. There will be music, information tables, a craft area and guest speakers along with Narcan training. A slideshow vigil of those lost will end the evening.
The events will start at 6:00. If you have any questions or want to include someone in the slideshow vigil, you can contact Becky Perkovich at 724-388-1124.
