The Indiana Area School Board will vote tonight on a motion to direct the administration to continue educating students under the current hybrid model in grades 7 through 12 while adhering to six feet physical distancing until the Centers for Disease Control changes its recommendation and reduces the distancing to less than six feet, after which the Junior High and Senior High could open accordingly.
The board will also vote on adding a new special education position for an autistic classroom, and on hiring up to 20 Summer School K-through-5 teachers, based on student enrollment.
Also on the Indiana Area agenda are a recommendation for no changes to school lunch prices; the food service budget; the rejection of the recent propane bids; and the listing of properties that have had tax liens placed on them, which totals more than a million dollars. The board will also vote on acquiring 255 new Chromebooks for student learning.
Marion Center’s board will also meet tonight. Its agenda includes the school calendar for the next academic year, the hiring of engineering consultant HHSDR for plumbing specifications and bid preparation for connecting the district’s buildings to city water, plus a number of district policies and personnel items.
