Adam Frazier pushed his spring batting average to .556 after going 2-5 with three RBIs in the Pirates 9-4 win over the Boston Red Sox Sunday afternoon.
After Will Craig scored on a passed ball in the first, Frazier drove a double to center field that scored two runners, and he would add his third RBI of the game in the fourth after grounding out to first. Ke’Bryan Hayes drove in two more in the fourth inning and Bryan Reynolds put the game out of reach with a two-run home run in the seventh.
Wil Crowe earned the win after allowing one run in 3.2 innings pitched, giving him a 0.93 ERA in 9 innings this spring.
With the win, the Pirates snap their three-game losing streak and move their record to 9-10-1. They return to Bradenton tomorrow to face the Baltimore Orioles at 1 p.m.
PIRATES SIGN KNUCKLEBALLER, WRIGHT, TO MINOR-LEAGUE DEAL:
The Pirates signed RHP Steven Wright to a minor-league deal with a non-roster invite to Spring Training on Sunday.
The 36-year-old missed the 2020 regular season after having Tommy John Surgery, but recorded a 24-16 record with a 3.86 ERA with one all-star appearance with the Boston Red Sox from 2013-19.
