Decorations and lights are going up in anticipation of the start of the holiday season in Indiana, and the town is being recognized as one of the best places in Pennsylvania to celebrate the season.
Indiana is among the top eight towns according to WHTM in Harrisburg for holiday celebrations this year. Reasons for the ranking including the town’s “It’s A Wonderful Life” festival which starts this weekend along with Friday’s holiday parade, the storefront decorations and “vintage” Christmas light displays from the former Festival of Lights, and Indiana’s title of “Christmas Tree Capitol of the World.”
Just yesterday, the 30-foot concolor fir tree was installed at IRMC park, and you can find video of the installation on our Facebook page. The decorations were also unpacked from and hauled to the Downtown district by McNaughton Brothers Moving and Storage, with repairs being done by ICTC students. It’s all in preparation for this year’s holiday kickoff, which starts at 4:30 this Friday with activities throughout Downtown Indiana. The Tree lighting ceremony will be held at 6:30 and the holiday parade will be at 7:00. If you can’t make it, check out our Renda Digital TV channel as we will have coverage of both the tree-lighting ceremony and the parade.
