VOLLEYBALL
The IUP women’s volleyball program is number three in the new NCAA Atlantic Region Rankings, which were released in numerical order yesterday for the first time this season.
The 20-8 Crimson Hawks have already qualified for the PSAC Tournament entering the final week of the regular season. They will play at Slippery Rock tomorrow and at home against Seton Hill on Saturday.
Gannon is number one in the region and Clarion is second. Wheeling, UPJ, West Virginia State, Shaw, West Liberty, Fairmont State and Charleston are next after IUP. There will be one more set of regional rankings, next Wednesday, before the NCAA Selection Show on November 20th.
SOCCER
Indiana High graduate Hannah Scardina is now a three-time All-PSAC First Team honoree, becoming only the second IUP player to be named all-conference first team three times. Scardina and Julia Csernyik were named to the first team this week and Emma Hays was named to the second team.
Scardina scored nine goals and 20 points in 18 games this season and closes an outstanding career in which she scored 28 goals, with 10 assists and 66 points in 52 games.
SWIMMING
IUP’s Luke Mikesell is the PSAC Swimmer of the Week after his performance at the Washington & Jefferson Ralph Johnson Invitational. Mikesell finished first in the men’s 100 freestyle, swam the third leg in IUP’s second-place 200 medley relay event and also swam in the 200 free relay.
