IUP football coach Paul Tortorella joined Jack Benedict last night for the final edition this season of Hawk Talk, at the CH Fields Craft Kitchen at the Hilton Garden Inn. IUP is 5-5 and looking to end the season with a winning record this Saturday when they travel to 3-7 Bloomsburg.
Looking back at this season, Tortorella said IUP was in every game except the Slippery Rock loss. He said the Crimson Hawks were about 14 points away from a chance at being 9-1.
Tortorella likes what he sees coming back next season for IUP, with a junior-dominated roster that could return as many as 18 starters.
IUP junior defensive back Darius Bruce yesterday was named PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week after he logged five solo tackles, three of them for a loss, along with two pass breakups, a forced fumble, and a blocked extra point.
