At Monday night’s meeting, the Center Township Supervisors discussed the bids for the Long Bridge project.
The new bridge would replace one over Muddy Run that had a temporary bridge from the county placed on it about six years ago. The new bridge would be a two-lane bridge 24 feet wide and with a span of 30 feet. The lowest bid for the bridge project was $355,000, with an additional bid of $10,000 from Curry and Kepple to take the temporary bridge back to the Jimmy Stewart Airport where it was stored. The supervisors decided to table the bids for now. Supervisor Jim Gatskie said that he felt the bids were too high.
The supervisors have 90 days to act on the bids.
In other business, the supervisors approved a resolution to apply for a Statewide Local Shares Assessment grant that would be used to update the roads, pipe work, catch basins and drainage work in Coral. There is no required match for that grant if they are able to get it.
