Officials with the Chevy Chase Community Center announced a leadership change Monday morning.
According to a news release, the Board of Directors named long-time volunteer Jennifer Rairigh as interim Executive Director after Brandi Ports resigned on October 27th. Rairigh helped develop the Meals 2 You program, which delivers meals from the Community Center to homebound individuals. She also assisted in the development of the Food 911 Facebook group, which assists local families dealing with food emergencies.
Deb Patterson, President of the Board of Directors, said they are excited to have Rairigh as the new interim Executive Director.
Rairigh said in the release that she looks forward to the opportunity to “contribute my time and energy to the Chevy Chase Community Center and to the people we serve.”
Patterson also said the Community Center’s kitchen reopened on Monday and they will continue serving meals in the “Connor Hall” community room later this week.
Operations at the Community Center were affected following a fatal shooting that happened October 10th.
