The cross country season concluded Saturday with the PIAA State Championships on the Hershey Parkview 5K course at Hershey, and the United and Marion Center girls’ teams finished seventh and ninth, respectively, in the Class A race.
United finished with 255 points (29+34+42+52+98) and Marion Center came in with 276 (28+44+58+72+74).
The top runners for each team finished just one second apart. Senior Lydia Miller of Marion Center finished 61st (21:48.00, 28 points) and freshman Olivia Henning of United finished 62nd (21:49:00, 29 points). In the top 100, United placed sophomore Chloe Stiles (77th, 22:17.00 34 points) and sophomore Sara Gornick (99th, 22:42.00, 42 points).
On the boys’ side of Class A, sophomore Colton Henning finished 76th (18:16.00). No Heritage Conference school had a team running at states.
