Tomorrow morning, Daylight Saving Time comes to an end for the year.
With the end of Daylight Saving time, people are reminded to turn their clocks back one hour before going to bed tonight. The American Red Cross is also reminding people to also check the batteries and test their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. The sooner that a working alarm can alert people to a fire, the sooner they can get out of the house and to safety.
Red Cross volunteers over the last year responded to help more than 6100 people across Pennsylvania who were affected by over 1500 home fires. Home fires account for most of the 60,000 disasters the Red Cross responds to across the country.
If you need a new alarm, and cannot afford one, or are physically unable to install one, the Red Cross may be able to help. You can log on to the Red Cross Greater Pennsylvania fire website for more information.
