An Indiana County man connected to the shooting at a fast food restaurant in Indiana last August has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on a federal firearms violation.
Acting U.S. District Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman announced earlier today that the federal firearms charge was filed against 33-year-old Todd Matthew Jakosh and was connected to the shooting at Taco Bell on August 7th of 2020. Indiana Borough Police said that Jakosh fired three shots at a female employee that all missed, and then fled the scene. Within an hour, Jakosh was taken into custody by police.
The new charges stem from the fact that Jakosh had a protection from abuse order filed against him and as part of that order, he was not allowed to have a firearm or ammunition under federal law. The federal firearms charge carries with it a possible sentence of up to ten years in prison, a fine of $250,000 or both, based on the seriousness of the offense and prior criminal history, if any, of the defense.
Jakosh is charged with aggravated assault-attempt to cause serious bodily injury with extreme indifference, attempted aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm into an unoccupied structure, reckless endangerment, terroristic threats, criminal mischief and carrying a firearm without a license in connection with the Taco Bell shooting. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Monday, March 22nd in front of District Judge Christopher Welch.
