On the first official day of the Major League Baseball offseason, the Pirates lost infielder Tucupita Marcano on a waiver claim by San Diego, the team which traded Marcano to the Bucs as part of the Adam Frazier deal in 2022. Marcano started 58 games at shortstop for the Pirates last season before suffering a season-ending knee injury in July.
Other moves include:
- Infielder Vinny Capra was claimed by Milwaukee
- First baseman Alfonso Rivas was claimed by Cleveland.
- Reliever Cody Bolton traded to Seattle for cash.
- Miguel Andujar, Yerry De Los Santos and Angel Perdomo were placed on waivers.
