A go-ahead goal in the third period lifted No. 3 Kutztown to an opening round win over No. 6 IUP yesterday in the PSAC Field Hockey tournament. The lone goal came at 32:06 when the Bears’ Jillian Buchman found paydirt from the right side.
IUP finishes its season 8-8.
Field hockey goalie Anita Planella was also named PSAC Defensive Athlete of the Week on Tuesday. She matched a season-high eight saves in the team’s season finale at East Stroudsburg.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Indiana High alumnus Hannah Scardina was named PSAC West Athlete of the Week earlier this week after she posted four points in IUP’s 3-2 win over Edinboro this past Saturday, even scoring the game-winning goal in the 84th minute.
