He is already serving 20 to 40 years in prison for murder and another 7-and-a-half to twenty years for aggravated assault. Now, 21-year-old Matthew McNevin is looking a possible sentence of as many as ten more years in prison after pleading guilty yesterday to aggravated assault. He’ll be sentenced within ninety days.
McNevin, who is from Rayne Township, shot and killed Carlos Recalde-Campos and wounded a bystander, Samantha Riley, on March 25th of last year at a party along Oakland Avenue. In February, he pleaded guilty to third degree murder and aggravated assault for killing a man. He was sentenced in May, but in April, while awaiting sentencing, he assaulted a guard at the Indiana County Jail.
McNevin is serving concurrent sentences for two other incidents while he was in jail. He pleaded guilty to institutional vandalism and for aggravated harassment by a prisoner in those two cases. He’s serving his time at the state prison at Camp Hill, in Cumberland County.
