The owners of local bars and restaurants are reacting to Governor Tom Wolf’s announcement on Monday that some restrictions on bars, restaurants, and other venues connected with the Covid-19 pandemic will be lifted next month.
Governor Wolf said starting April 4th, restaurants can resume bar service, alcohol service will be allowed without the requirement of purchasing a meal, and the curfew for removing alcoholic beverages from tables will be lifted. Indoor dining capacity will be increased to 75 percent for restaurants that self-certified with the state, while those that didn’t self-certify will be allowed to increase dining capacity to 50 percent.
Larry Miller, the longtime manager of Benjamin’s Restaurant in Downtown Indiana said that the announcement was welcome news.
Denny Della Penna of Bruno’s Restaurant said that the last year has been rough for the restaurant industry, but he looks forward to April 4th.
Other restrictions that will be eased include event gathering sizes, with 25 percent of indoor capacity and 50 percent of outdoor capacity being allowed and gyms, personal services facilities and entertainment facilities will be allowed to operate at 75 percent capacity.
