A Latrobe man sentenced last month for dragging a trooper with his car in an incident in White Township in February of last year is due in court today for a post-sentence motion hearing.
Matthew Rebar will go before Judge Michael Clark today for a hearing on a post-sentencing motion claiming he was improperly denied a motion to withdraw his guilty plea. He initially entered the pleas to charges of aggravated assault, fleeing or attempting to elude police, DUI, possession of a small amount of marijuana and summary driving crimes. On February 25th of 2022, a woman said that Rebar was going to her home in White Township to have sexual relations with a 13-year-old girl. There were no minors involved as the woman was impersonating the teen. When a trooper approached his car, Rebar put it in gear and drove off, dragging a trooper with him. The trooper suffered minor injuries. Police apprehended Rebar later on and determined he was under the influence of controlled substances, and he had marijuana and drug paraphernalia on his person.
He was ordered on September 25th to serve between two to five years in state prison. Before the sentencing hearing, Rebar asked to have his guilty pleas rescinded, and that request was denied by Judge Clark.
