IUP has announced that the new science and math building will have a ribbon cutting ceremony on November 2nd.
The John J. and Char Kopchick Hall is a 142,536 square foot facility on IUP’s Oak Grove that will serve as the home to the Kopchick College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. The site includes over 51,000 square feet of laboratory space. The building will house several departments including anthropology, biology, math and computer sciences and professional programs and safety sciences among others. Approximately 65 faculty members will work out of the building.
The building is named for the Kopchicks, who are IUP graduates and longtime supporters of the university, who made a $23 million donation to IUP in 2018 for science and math initiatives.
The public will be able to tour the building from 2-3:30 PM on November 2nd with the official ribbon cutting to take place at 4:00 PM. The building will open for classes in the Spring 2024 semester.
