Heavy rains in the central to southern portions of Indiana County caused some damage to area homes and one highway.
Emergency crews from Coral-Graceton, Brush Valley, Armagh/East Wheatfield, Indiana, Pine Township, Brush Valley, Homer City, Vintondale, and others have been out since mid-day today with basement pumping details, with many of them coming around 2:00 this afternoon, as Indiana County 911 said that there were various locations affected by the flooding in Pine Township and Brush Valley township areas. Other areas where pumping details were called for included Center and White townships as the rains that have been off-and-on all day today contributed to the problems with basements.
Yellow Creek Campground has confirmed that it has closed a few areas within the campground due to flooding.
And according to reports, rain caused a landslide near the United High School in Armagh. Few details are available on how much damage was done on that stretch of road, and PennDOT is advising people to make sure they take some extra time if they are going through that area, and to check with www.511pa.com before you leave for the latest road conditions.
