Despite the Bucs out-hitting New York on Saturday, the Yankees came out winners by a score of 7-5 Saturday afternoon.
J.T. Brubaker gave up four runs in the first two innings of the game, three of which came of a D.J. LeMahieu home run to right field. The Pirates rallied to pull within a run in the sixth inning after Bryan Reynolds hit a solo home run to right, but the Yankees would tack on three more in the final three innings thanks to home runs by Ryan LaMarre and ex-Pirate Socrates Brito.
Pittsburgh was aided by two home runs in the game, the first coming from Troy Stokes Jr., who hit his second of the season …
… and the second coming from infielder Rodolfo Castro.
Adam Frazier also continued to provide some lumber support, tallying three hits in four at-bats. After today, Frazier sits with a .667 batting average this spring.
Outfielder Anthony Alford (hand) and catcher Tony Wolters (groin) exited Saturday’s game after being hit by pitches. Their statuses moving forward are still unknown.
The Pirates are now 7-5-1 on the spring and will welcome the Philadelphia Phillies tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m.
