No injuries were reported after a vehicle fire was reported early this morning on Dehaven Road in Rayne Township.
Creekside Fire Chief Cody Hitchings said that there was only one vehicle involved in the fire. The Creekside and Indiana fire departments were called out at 4:24 this morning, and Chief Hitchings had called Marion Center fire department to stand by at their station in case things got worse. Prior to the fire crews getting there, the owner of the home, whose name was not released, was using a garden hose to keep the fire at bay until firefighters arrived, and Hitchings said that was a big reason why the fire did not spread to the garage.
Hitchings said the fire started due to an electrical malfunction in the car.
